Same here. Sounds a bit of a "rum-do" to have to pay to have the cat registered and then pay for the priviledge again to transfer it into your name. If I was paying £400 I would expect all my paperwork and pink slip as a matter of course. Sounds like bad practice to me...

Hi, yes sure you can have a kitten from my next litter. It will cost you £400 (and £50 for the vaccinations, £15 for registration, £10 for worming/flea treatment, £5 for an assortment of cat toys, £2.50 for a lovely little food dish and water bowl combo...oh and 28p for the postage when i register it. I'll throw in the printer ink used to print out the pedigree certificate for free, cause i'm generous like that!)

Just thought i'd better add that this is me having a dig at those money-grabbing breeder types and not my code of practice

Very tounge in cheek there MickB but I luv it,surprised you don't throw in a charge for the cuppa that you must offer when likely "buyers"come to view....!

MickB and jckkerrison I agree it is a bit cheeky. One of my friends who's about to start breeding pointed out that whilst the microchip may denote legal ownership why pay top dollar (pound?!) for a pedigree kitten that's unregistered! She did provide me with his pedigree and a signed declaration of mating so I don't think she was up to no good at all but I would've expected £400 to cover the £14 cost of her registering him... Oh well, what's done is done and she's done all the paperwork straight away and sent it to me this evening so I can send the transfer application off with the registration application so can't complain too much!

MickB - love your 'small print'... I have to confess that he did come fully vaccinated (except FeLV) and wormed...

The breeder's website doesn't state that the kittens come GCCF registered either, just that after neutering you get the registration papers so it's my bad really for not checking and just assuming!

And at the end of the day, I have a lovely kitten with a confident (psychotic), outgoing (nosy) personality so what's an extra £14? (apart from mildly annoying ;))
