    Leo did good!

My lad Leo (and I) went to our first show yesterday, the Semi-Long Haird Cat Assoc Show in Brum.

Leo got Best of Breed and Best Maine Coon Kitten as well as 1st in all four individual classes he was entered in. I don't actually know what that all means, but I am very proud and he has lots of rosettes

He took it all very much in his stride and didn't appear at all nervouse or anything - beyond curiosity and new smells. We may go to more shows, but probably more local to London. Dunno yet though.

    Leo did good

It means he had a red card day & that in turn means he done b****y good, well done to you both, you must have some pictures to post seeing how good you are with the camera,to get best MC kitten & best of breed unless there were no others {& I wouldn't expect that at a semi long haired show} you have every reason to be very proud dad, whenever any of mine get anything like that I blub the place down. If you do carry on but do shows closer to home that might mean you have to try FB & perhaps will meet up with you one day,he sure sounds too good not to continue with him especially as he didn't get upset.

Well, there were only 4 MC kittens, and I think the number os "AOC" MCs was quite small too. But I assume (maybe wrong) that the 1st's are quality indicators and not 1st/2nd/3rd? I really don't know. But I know he did good!

I just feel proud at how well he behaved and how confident he was given this was the first time he had been without his brothers. Ever. I would be proud of the awards, but to be quite honest I don't know what they really mean - relative to other things. I understand the concepts and stuff, but how high or low (for a first show) he fits, well it's great whatever!

Congratulations on a fantastic result at your first show!

I'm interested in how you picked Leo to show out of your gorgeous trio. Did the breeder advise you that he was most show-able, and is it partly because he has the most laid-back temperament? Are you considering showing the other 2 lads anyway, or is Leo going to be your show cat?

The breeder suggested him. I was already going to the show to do the photos and she said that he was coming along well. The other two are wonderful boys, but Leo is the outstanding one of the three for sheer looks and shape. I may or may not show again, not sure. Maybe if there is something a bit closer to home.
