She's the reason why we wanted a pet cat

Last year lovely cat came to our lives, she just came out of nowhere and decided to make our home her home. Even though we really tried not to get attached she won our hearts in a big way. She was such a gentle and patient creature, that we kinda hoped that she will stay with us for a long time.

But obviously, we knew she belonged to someone, and somebody was probably missing their dear cat. So we put posters up, advertised on the net, rang vets etc, but with no luck.

She stayed with us for 3 months and the kids decided to call her Ruby. She would sit on my husbands desk while he worked and kept his keyboard warm lol. Slept on our bed and wake us up in the morning for her feed. She was such a sweetie and it felt like that we were never without her.

We really loved her, and after 3 months of being with us she just dissapeared and never came back. We gathered she returned to her original owners and really she was not ours to keep I really missed her and still do. I just hope she is OK. I never realised how much we were missing out on until she came to our lives.

Thats a lovely story. I'm sure Ruby made her way back to her owner. My husband's Mum always has neighbouring cats with collars on ,come visit for a day or two and they they head off again. Cats are funny creatures.
We had a beautiful longhaired cat which my Aunt gave us a gift some years ago. It wasn't a pedigree but had that "Maine Coon" look. For such a young kitty he really used to amuse us with his antics. We had a hawthorn tree at the bottom of the garden which we could see from our dining room window and the crows build a nest there every year. Well "Fluffy" ( he was christened by a 7 year old!) liked to climb the tree and take on the crows, who were trying to build the nest. It was very amusing and I'm just sorry I did not take snaps.

Fluff was booked in for his big op at 6 mths with the vet and on the morning off the op, my Dad opened the garage door and Fluff bolted. We started to worry when he hadn't come back within an hr. Had to ring the vet to cancel operation. Sadly we found him later, he had got knocked down by a car on the road. We reckon because he had been fasting he was low on energy and just did not have time to jump into the ditch

From then on I have always wanted to get a long haired cat ..........and now he's on his way

What a beautiful story... I hope that Ruby is somewhere in a nice, warm home right now among people who love her as much as you and your family did.

Thanks guys, I still get quite emotional when I think of her, and sometimes I must admit I still go out and call her lol. But yes, I hope she's gone back to her original owners, or at least found a new home where she's happy. As they say, you dont choose the cat, they choose you, so in a way I feel very privileged.
