Upcoming Ideas
I'm getting closer to introducing a dedicated reference section to the website with the idea to post a set of articles based on commonly required information making it easier for people to locate referance articles on MC's. I'd like to ask you all if you have any other suggestions for what would make good topics. My first will be based on the Origins and History of Maine Coons (although I know there's some different opinions here), following that , recommended diet and feeding routines, Grooming tips, introduction to breeding for those considering going down the breeding route, what to ask and look for when buying an MC.
Any other suggestions welcome.
Thanks

Being a nOObie to both the board and breed I hope you don't mind me replying. When Buddy entered my life only a month ago (is it really only a month?) I found little useful information on other sites until I found this one. My main "searches" before I joined were lifestyle, feeding, temperament, health problems, fur, matts. I have asked a lot of questions and have received excellent friendly advice.
I would like to see a Commonly asked Q&A Section where frequently asked questions are answered, or linked to a particular thread. I'm still a Mod on a dog breed forum even though my baby is no longer with us and this Section proved a quick and easy reference point for new members and saved older members repeating themselves.

Would there be any way to get a graph of MC weights in there somehow. With the 1, 2, and 3 standard deviations showing. The standard deviations are important since we have some mixed breed measurements in there. What I started, and Walter has wonderfully picked up seems to be the best MC weight reference on the entire web. It needs to be more readily available. In fact I honestly think a proper graph link should show on the home page at all times. I think it would be a major draw for this site generating more members.
Let me think about it, but I will certainly have more ideas.

Yeah, I like that idea. I was looking at how to drag in the data from the weights thread into some pivot table (I wonder if LibreOffice does pivot tables like Excel does?) and then graphing the results somehow, with various stuff attached.

My son is a whizz on computers and he said that he could do this easily in a database form then converted to graphs (flew over my head when he tried to explain it) but he is willing to give it a go if you want. Don't want to step on anyones toes but he's just left school and I need to keep him occupied til October. ..... or he gets replaced with half a dozen coonies lol x
