I agree with all here! You can NOT be too cautious with these guys. They turn the corner so quickly! We've had problems with Dakota off-and-on since we got him. He's had upper resp infections and food allergies several times. MCs are so expressive -- you know when something is NOT right. Glad your vet is concerned with the way you were treated (and I'm appalled myself).
We hope Pouncy is feeling "pouncy" again soon!

URI are very common. So the meds should help Pouncy to feel better soon. Our guy had a temp of 105 when we got him. The meds cleared him up right away. That was 4 months ago and he's doing great.

Allergies and herpes... Been there, done that.... Can never give enough praise to Vetri Lysine plus chews. Sets them straight and keeps them that way. And I agree with the way MC are soo expressive. Who ever said that animals don't have souls, never owned a MC.
Pouncysmom.. I read over the first update on my way out the door to work. I was not a happy camper with the way you were treated. But I saw that Jackie gave a good response and you already knew better to go to your regular vet. I knew your babe had an infection. And couldn't believe that a vet was so darn stupid and uncaring. Grrr.....
When in doubt, just grab them and go. My Teddy Bearz once suffered mild anaphylaxis from a rabies shot. And I didn't want to wait to see if he got better. I just grabbed him and his carrier and shot out the door. By the time they triaged him at the emergency center, he was much better. And the only proof of his symptoms was the bloody BM that I hurridly scooped into a plastic baggie. Otherwise they could have thought I was being a paranoid mom. The combination of sudden bloody diarrhea, heavy breathing, and jerking legs scared the living heck out of me. So I wasted $85 but it was worth it to me. He could have gotten worse instead of better. In fact I wonder if the adrenaline from the car ride even helped.
Oh and MC-becca, my Teddy WAS just allergic to food. He was doing wonderfully, and then out of no where, rabies shot allergy. Just to warn you that once they have one allergy, there can be more. Keep Benadryl handy. And know the closest emergency center.

Bless him & would have been feeling better even quicker if the other vet had given him something, hope when your vet gets in touch with them they have the decency to give you a part refund as a goodwill gesture, when that sort of thing happens it makes you wary about having to use them again. May Pouncy's bounce carry on improving...x

Glad to hear he's doing better. It is so heart-rending to see them suddenly go poorly.

Glad to hear that he got the proper treatment and that he is getting better.
It sucks to go to a emergency, tell you nothing is wrong or do very little to help and take your money. It really irks me that these supposely 'vets' can do this. I could go on but I won't, it makes my blood boil.
Lots of healthy dust sent to Pouncy!
