    Odd toilet observations?

I originally posted this in the Litter Tray thread but didn't want to hijack the thread by asking a different question!

So I just wondered if others have MCs with odd toilet habits like this!

When my male MC poos, he only places one back paw actually in the litter - the rest are all bunched together on the rim of the tray - well out of the way!! Then when he buries it, he spends ages scraping at the tray rim instead of the litter! Eventually he turns round and digs in properly, but he does this every time and always has done!

Anyone else have any strange observations (not that we're allowed to watch of course )?

I have one that always stands with his two front paws on the edge of the tray to do both he covers ok but always keeps one paw on the rim,I reckon its to stop him falling into the tray...... I have another that goes right into the tray but scraps around the higher edges for ages then he goes scrapes the edges again but when he finally decides to cover properly he digs through to down under as does one of the others, not that I ever watch or listen either...x

My Buddy puts all four paws on the rim of the litter box and then also spends a lot of time scraping the sides of the box, from outside the box, then eventually buries it properly.....strange I thought at first but I guess he just does not his paws dirty

Damn I forgot there was another Buddy on here, I'm surrounded now as there is a black and white coonie just moved in over the road called Buddy as well.

pre Litter Kwitter my Buddy refused point black to put his paws on litter, or sand. He would hover over the edge of the tray and yes it was messy :( He would happily spend half and hour pawing the floor to cover up what he had done. Now he just likes to jump on the loo just as the morning alarms go off and stay there for ages - I swear he has the newspaper delivered in there with him :( He does like to take a wee in the front flower bed and he does this tripod thing where he only stands on 3 paws but changes which one is off the floor and then normally falls over in the mud and looks all proud of him self at the state he gets in ..... please let the new kittens be normal litter box trained

My guy seems to love playing in his liter. He'll spend 5-10 minutes in there banging around. The entire box will shake. He'll come out when I walk in, so I've never caught what pose he makes while making. Thankfully the box has a lid or I'd find litter all over the place. When I lift the lid to dispose of his poo, I find that he's pushed all the litter to one side and made a mound. Is this his pitcher's mound, his version of Mt. Everest, does he want to ski down this slope, is he playing "king of the world"? I just don't get it.

I use pine pellets for his liter. If one sticks to his paw, he'll fling it off and then chase it around on the floor, sometimes carrying it off in his mouth. Yuck factor for me - not so much for him.

CatsMom we have the same! A Mt. Everest every job! Why do they need to push the whole of the litter into this super mound? I'm sure there's a reason.

Yep, Dakota does the same. As he gets older (and bigger) his piles have also increased! We always find a present under the large heap of litter.
