Personalised and Funky Cat Tags/Collars from Etsy

I dont know whether any of you guys have heard of Etsy, but its a great place to buy things personalised and handmade. Ive been looking for a collar and tag for Hank and here are just some things I have found.

They look nice! I won't need them though, cause we don't use collars on our cats. They stay inside (and can only go outside on the balcony from which it's impossible to escape), and they all have a chip.
How pretty collars may be; I don't really want to use them on my cats. Especially with long haired cats, the fur in the neck 'sets' itself to the shape of the collar... And since we like to do a show every now and then, that's not such a great idea cause they would definately give remarks about that.

That is true Karol, I have been pondering about putting a collar on Hank, but as you say they have such long hairs that a collar would leave a mark when taken off. Hank will also be an indoor cat, so I guess we won't need one. But these are sooo pretty that I thought I'd just share. But I think I'll take your advice on that

They do look wonderful, you're absolutely right about that! If I would have cats that go outside, I would definately consider buying one (or more?) of these collars...

I think she meant that the collar is getting damaged by the collar and the judges will say something about that. Though they look very nice.
I myself will not put a collar on my cats. It can be very dangerous. They can get stuck on the collar jump and break their neck, with 'fighting' they can get tangled in the collar and for safety it's not suitable because a cat can take it off in a second. For a cat to stay on a leash you need a special collar that is around the neck and one around the breast.

I wont be collaring up Kalli as she's indoor only, but they'd look great on my other 2 moggies...but you know they'd lose them as quickly as I put them on, like they always do with new collars! There must be a stack of collars behind a fence somewhere!

Thanks for the links! I'm going to check out those crocheted collars. All my cats wear collars because even though they are indoor only and microchipped, I am afraid of them possible getting out. I have had a cat get out the door several times before when a family member went in/out or was letting the dog in/out. I was able to catch them right away but if I couldn't I am afraid if they didn't have collars and tags people would just assume they are another feral cat and ignore them... My cats wear tags that say "Indoor Only" or "Lost if Alone".
My Maine Coon doesn't seem to have a problem with the collar rubbing or flattening her fur down, I use a very thin breakaway collar for her. I do have one shorthaired cat Harley whose fur tends to get rubbed off by the collars and I do show her sometimes so I've been looking for a collar that doesn't rub her fur. I know several types that are supposed to not rub the fur off, they worked fine on my other cats but not on Harley. So far the only one I've found that works for Harley was a wool collar that looks similar to those crocheted ones so I might try one of those too.

I usually don't use hanging tags on my cats' collars (except for one cat who has a medical ID tag) so I don't have the problem of their tags getting caught anywhere and the collar coming off. I either have their collars embroidered with info or I use a Collartag (nameplate style) from Boomerang Tags.
