Smile The thrill of the trill

Pun intended... Before I got Teddy B, I listened to some trilling examples on Youtube. But it was mostly domestic kitties. And a few Maine Coons. Their "trilling" sounded a lot like what all my domestic kitties do. And I thought, what was so special about that? And now I realize that it wasn't trilling at all.

What amazes me the most, is the trills long, and drawn out musical quality. With a few changes in pitch. Sometimes lasting almost a minute. Truely amazing and beautiful to hear. They are the songbirds of the feline race.

Anyways, if you are lucky enough to film it, perhaps you can post it here? I will too, when I can finally catch one. But darn it, it is always over by the time I get my video camera. Likely because the beautiful sound mesmerizes me every time.

    The thrill of the trill

I know exactly what you mean it is a wonderful sound, one of our boys has got such a deep voice though I am sure he would be in the "bass" section of the choir he always makes you smile when he joins in because he is not the biggest one of the gang but it sure comes up from his paws.... I luv to hear it.

I don't know whether anyone has experienced this, but Harry used to trill quite a lot i'd say from about 5 -7 months, since then I only hear him occasionally, he still has a voice though and boy if he wants to tell you something, you certainly hear him but not very often does this sound anything like a trill.

Hector came in for a chat with me tonight while I was in the bath, but for some reason he only put his front paws on the side of the bath tonight instead of sitting on the side! I cant think why maybe he did not want to wash his back paws tonight bless him.

Maybe because babies are so happy all the time, they do it more? My Teddy B does it when he is "chasing butterflies". No I don't have butterflies in my house, but you get the picture. Oh and I almost forgot, he is often bipedal when he trills.

Oh gosh, Teddy B just came to me for a loving moment. WIPEOUT! I guess that spolied the mood for my handsome Klutz. Oh wait he is back.

    Singing

Over here our Tatja is the operatic diva. She never miaows, but instead she sings in long drawn-out tones. Sometimes she sounds so melancholy it's almost eerie. When she does that I simply have to pick her up and walk around the house with her in my arms. Then we go through a daily ritual - we greet all the things in the house: "There's the kitchen cupboard... hello cupboard! There's the window... hello window!" Etc., etc.
These cats do tend to make a person a bit dotty, don't they?
