Thumbs up Winston's success on Litter Quitter!

We moved Winston onto the amber stage of the litter kwitter on Sat morning.
He had his first proper pee and poop on the amber stage last night, however I was with him for about 30 minutes before he used it.

This morning he went into the bathroom and jumped up himself and did a pee over the hole.
    he is just brilliant.
He has got lots of praise, hugs and treats since starting this journey

I managed to capture him as he finished his job this morning

karena: I was really excited last night when he eventually perched over the hole. I was sitting on the floor of the bathroom reading and waiting. What a sight the two of us made

However now that he has discovered how to use the hole I am very optistic about this system actually working. I was just thrilled this morning when he went into the bathroom and jumped up all on his own. I ran into get the camera . He was actually sitting there peeing for ages before I started to film!
I could hear it from the sitting room

YEYEYEY!!! Well done Winston! Thats brilliant!

Hank went on his 2nd stage too a few days ago, and I will be putting a vid soon. It's sooo funny when he's sat there 'tinkling' away. He has also done a few poops so Im such a proud mummy!

Winston is a tidy kitty tho, Hank gets litter EVERYWHERE when he's done!

    So glad its working Dee!

    Thats great news Ria.

I had meant to ask you how he was coming along.

As for Winston being tidy, well he was pretty good in that short video but sometimes I think he's trying to dig to Australia

Wow, what a clever boy ! go Winston !!!! I think he's going to be just fine. Do you think I've left it too long to try and teach Harry to use the Litter Kwitter ? I was sceptical about them at first, but seeing Winston's success has made me re-think.

I think it's worth giving it a shot if you have the time and patience to do it.
I'm lucky in that Winston is still a young kitten and is also the only cat in the house. but I have seen on the Litter Kwitter forum where somebody trained their 12 year old cat!!!

The red stage is the easiest but I left him on it for 4 weeks as I was not getting the right time to start the "amber one".

I believe "amber" is the trickiest as this is where they will start to rebel as the introduction of the hole is completely new to them.
"Winston" who is an extremely clean kitten and has been very well litter trained by his breeder did pee on the floor and poop .
But I want to stress he did that because we were distracted and not watching him and my husband also let him poop right in front of him.

I have watched him constantly all day yesterday ( I did manage to get out for awalk after lunch) and it payed off in the end. This has been his first success and we still may have some hurdles to jump yet, but he seemed very comfortable using it this morning , and he was fascinated by the way it all disappeared down the hole.
I have to say the hygiene aspect of it is fantastic!!!

Yeah, that I think maybe a slight hurdle for me having another cat that although she is outdoor cat sometimes uses the litter at night when she's in. It will as you say take a lot of time and patience. I know Poppy is too set in her ways to try and train her, so I won't even go there but I am certainly going to look into it for Harry maybe when I've got a week off work and can give it a real shot !

Thanks for your advise and congrats again clever little Winston !
