Nodding off in the water bowl...!
Hi, just wondering if anyone elses coonie does this...?
Sunshine is a typically lazy, laid back boy but I get a bit worried sometimes as he starts to nod off when he's at the waterbowl! He usually lies down to drink (and eat), resting his head on the edge, then before you can blink, his eyes are shut, his chin starts to lower and his nose is heading for the water too! Is this dangerous - I usually shout to him to wake him but obviously I'm not always there!
Thanks

Welly has this off to a fine art but normally during the hot weather, sometimes he is laying & sometimes sitting,I have only ever known him to blow bubbles once as normally as soon as his face splashes in the water he comes too but then he will continue to stay there & go through the whole thing again.....

My boy Cleo does this all the time and blows bubbles in it too. He is 17 years old, so I guess the shallow water bowls work.
The shallow bowls actually had 2 purposes. Before the shallow bowls we used a nice shiny big round one for him. He would fall over asleep and land on the bowl. And we would find him sleeping in a huge puddle. Sometimes with the bowl on top of him. Other times we would find him leaning forward on the opposite end of the bowl with his head tipped inside the bowl and resting on the opposite end also. The bowl would be wedged up against the wall. It looked like he drowned and died somewhat standing. When we would look closer, those were some really big bubbes... Sleeping of course...
Oh but he is narcoleptic. He will fall asleep just about anywhere while doing anything. Imagine a 16 pound cat falling asleep while standing on the windowsill. Then falling off onto your face while you are sleeping! Ouch! Most times he would be still sleeping when he hit you. So you got the entire side of the cat on your face. Double ouch! Oh well, enough tales, since it is nearly impossible to type with Sasha hogging my right arm. She has to lay cradled in my RIGHT arm, not my left. Arrggghhhh.
Ok Sasha got down for a moment so I can add more. Cleo has improved over the years with his narcolepsy. Not as severe as it used to be. Maybe because he is sleeping more in general and has less opportunities to fall over?
We pulled out the shiny bowl for Teddy. Well, that didn't last long...
