Poor Paddington :(
My poorly boy might have fractured his wrist :( He had been limping very mildly for a few days but yesterday it got much worse and he was very lame.
We took him to the vets last night and he has been given pain killers and an anti-inflammatory (in-case it is just a sprain). We have been told to bring him back on Wednesday when he will have an X-ray if he is no better.
To top this off, he is being sick. I think he is trying to bring up a hair-ball as he is due one any day now. This meant that the vet had to give him different pain killers than what she wanted to as she couldn't give them to a vomiting cat.
The vet prescribed special food which he wont eat, so i have been up since before 5 steaming chicken and rice for him! (Mummies boy). He was so well behaved at the vets and just let her get on with it and didn't cause a fuss.
I think Phoebe can sense something is wrong as she isn't giving him a hard time!! We don't know how he did it. He is very clumsy though.
Poor Paddington.
Worried mummy.
xxxxx
P.s Photo of pads when we got back from the vets sitting on 'his' balcony. His favourite place to be.

Oh bless him, give Paddington a special kiss & cuddle & tell him we all hope he soon feels better, hopefully it is only a sprain but sometimes they seem to be more painful than a break plus can take as long to get completely better, thing is with cats they will still keep jumping about & it doesn't help, more so a front leg sprain because they keep landing with all their weight on it & with pain killers they do it even more so becomes a viscous circle, tell him to take care & hope he doesn't end up with a cast on his leg,can you imagine the lumping of a MC with one of them, bad enough without....x

Hello all,
Not good im afraid. his Xrays were relatively inconclusive. There was a slight difference between his poorly wrist and his good wrist however this could have been because of a slightly different angle of the xrays. There was no evidence of a break or a fracture. However, Pads is now in a full arm cast up to his armpit.
His xrays have been sent off to the osteopath (which could cost us £2000 should he need to go to see them).
We have to go back to the vets on Saturday to have his cast changed.
I kind of feel that because they know we have insurance they are going over and above which may not always be in the best interest of Pads.
The vet didnt talk too much about the possibility of it being a strain/sprain but when i mentioned this at the end she said it could well just be a sprain. (but i had to probe for this information).
I dont know what to think.
Pddington is very uncomfortable and clumsy withhis full cast, we have been told to put him in the smallest room in the house and not let him jump or get it wet (two of his favourite things)
Feeling very stressed and worried about Paddington.
:((((

I am surprised they didn't suggest confining Paddington to a cage until they saw him again, the only way a sprain can heal is to rest it & the only way to rest a cat is to confine, also while they are on pain relief they don't feel the pain so are inclined to do more than they should anyway, viscous circle.
Did you mean he might be referred to an oesteopath or did you mean orthopedic ?
We have a chiro vet & no way would his costs be anything like that but the ortho bods are, fingers crossed it is nothing like that,I wonder also why he is having his cast changed as quick as Saturday, why did they need to cast him anyway if they couldn't find any sign of a fracture ? All questions I know while you are so worried about your little boy,try not to stress {from someone who stressed like hell over Bruce & should have known better} hopefully as he is now restricted things will improve bless him, strong vibes being sent your way that it is nothing more than a sprain & cuddles to Paddington x

But I do have one request. I have yet to see a handsome MC in a cast. Bet he makes even that look cute.
